JensenBayles, LLP is pleased to announce that B. Cory Lee joined the firm and will be working with the litigation team. Cory has an extensive background in Tax. He graduated from the University of Missouri School of Law with a Juris Doctor (JD) in the top 25% of his class. At the University of Missouri, he earned a Tax Law Certificate, with honors, focusing on tax planning. During his second summer of law school, Cory did an externship with the IRS Office of Chief Counsel. Additionally, he was awarded Top 10 in pro bono hours for the 2013-2014 academic year and led the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at the law school in 2015. The following year he graduated from the University of Florida Levin College of Law with a Master of Laws in Taxation (LLM).
Just before moving to Utah and starting work at JensenBayles LLP, Cory worked in New York City in the Tax Mergers and Acquisitions department for PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), which is currently the second largest professional service network in the world. While working for PwC Cory, gained exposure to multinational corporations and their tax structures, performing tax due diligence on companies that were being targeted for purchase or preparing to be sold. Cory was also exposed to intense training surrounding the recent tax reform and the potential impact tax reform will have on all types of businesses and owners of businesses. Part of Cory’s responsibilities included reviewing tax documents, researching complex tax issues and making planning and structuring recommendations for optimizing tax benefits in corporate structures, and assisting clients with IRS audits.
